Judy (Easter) Wightman

1943 - 2021

OBITUARY Print

On Friday, April 16, 2021, our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully at the Emerson Personal Care Home at the age of 78 years old.

Judy was born on March 14, 1943 in St. Vincent, Minnesota, USA.  She was predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Flora Easter, in laws Ted and Elsie Wightman, brother Jack in infancy, daughter-in-law Stacey Wightman, brother-in-law Dale Hanson and brother-in-law Bob Matthews.

Judy is survived and will be fondly remembered by her husband Bill of 60 years, by her children:  Shelly (Jeff) Rodewald, Bill (Ann) Wightman, Julie (Carl) Ostberg and Brandie (Tim) Lazaruk, by 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  She was also survived by her brother Gary (Joanne) Easter, sisters Cheryl (Laurel) Wenstad, Donna (Dave Mills) Matthews, Kathy (Gary) Wilkie and many nieces and nephews.

Judy lived her childhood years in St. Vincent, Minnesota where she was baptized into the Lutheran Church and attended the St. Vincent and Humboldt Schools in Minnesota.  She met and married the love of her life, Bill Wightman of Emerson, MB on July 23, 1960 and we were fortunate to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this past summer at Buffalo Point where they spent many years at their seasonal camping site.

Judy was an active member of the Ladies Curling Club in Emerson where she enjoyed going to many bonspiels in the area.  Judy worked at various jobs including the local grocery store and many years as a Customs Broker in Emerson.  She enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards, fishing, camping, but her biggest joy was being "Grandma".  There was a revolving door at her house as the grandchildren would pop in to check out what she was baking or making for supper or just to see if a card game was going to happen.

A special thank you to Dr. Hunt, Dr. Thompson, the nursing staff at the Emerson Personal Care Home, the nursing staff at Boundary Trails and Morris Hospital and to Trevor Groening and his staff at Wiebe's  Funeral Home for their help, compassion and comfort during this difficult time.   There will be no funeral service as per Judy's wishes.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emerson Personal Care Home.

Dear Bill and Family,  We are so sad to hear of Judy's passing. We knew that she was battling cancer these last few years. Her pain is now gone and she sits with her departed loves ones who have gone on before her in Paradise.
May God hold you all close and give you the strength to carry on as she would have wanted you to do.
We were fortunate to have had some very fun times with Bill & Judy. Rest In Peace,Judy. Memories live on forever!
Sincere Sympathy, Velma & Bill Marecak.
