Obituary for Tony Heppner

We grieve the loss of our Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-grandfather, Tony Heppner. On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Tony passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at his home with his dear wife Jessie by his side. He had reached the age of 81 years and 8 months.

Dad was born on May 13, 1944, to Diedrich and Susanna (Dueck) Heppner. He was the fourth of eleven children. In 1966, he was baptized upon confession of his faith. He married the love of his life, Jessie Fehr, on Sept 22, 1968, and together they made their first home in Kleinstadt. Dad and Mom worked hard together to build a wonderful life for their family, they did this with God as their foundation and he blessed them richly. They were blessed with 5 children; 2 sons, and 3 daughters. Dad was proud of his children and found great joy in seeing each of them start and build their own family. He welcomed each addition with love. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he meant the same back to them. Dad enjoyed having fun and loved to share a good, dry joke. His sense of humor was what he was known for, and his laugh is what we will remember.... You didn’t ever have to look for Dad, you just had to listen...

Dad was faithful, loyal, patient, generous, humble and forgiving. Dad didn’t hold grudges and encouraged us to not as well. He taught us by example to think of others and to bless them as we have been blessed. Dad was a strong man, not just physically but emotionally and spiritually as well. He was someone we could lean on and count on. It didn't matter what the situation or time of day, he was always ready and willing to help. In tough times, he told us, “You may not believe me now, but this will make you stronger, draw near to God”. I believe he would still encourage us with this today. A bible verse Dad used to encourage us with, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Dad was a man of faith, and it was his heart's desire that his children, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren would seek and live for the Lord. His faith never wavered, and he was an inspiration to us.

Dad worked hard to provide a good life for his wife and children. In the first years of marriage, he worked at CVO (now Bunge). In 1975, he started his first business; Tony’s Carpet Cleaning. Two years later, he started his second business; Valley Septic Service. He built both businesses with integrity and a willing heart to serve others. In 1992, Dad and Mom started driving special needs clients to and from Blue Sky for work. Each one of these clients held a special place in Dad's heart, and he often spoke of them with a tenderness that was reserved for them. He did this until 2020 when he finally hung up the keys. Another role Dad had that he took seriously and did whole heartedly was song leading. He served his church in this way for 30 years.

2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

“I may not have a lot, but one thing I do have is Contentment”

“If you’re old enough to be born, you’re old enough to die”

“Look at what you have accomplished, not at what you have left to do”

“I’m not going to tell you what to do... but have a good day!”
