Tina Janzen

January 12, 1925 — February 11, 2017

Tina Janzen

Mom went to be with her Lord Jesus, peacefully early Saturday morning, February 11, 2017, at Eastview Place in Altona.  She reached the age of 92 years and 1 month.

Mom was born to Jacob and Elizabeth Falk on January 12, 1925 in Arkadak, Russia.  That same year, mom and her parents and siblings immigrated to Canada. The family settled in Schoenwiese, a village in southern Manitoba. Here Mom grew up and received her education. She was baptized upon her confession of faith in her Lord Jesus Christ in 1946 by Bishop Johann P. Bueckert.

She met the love of her life, David Janzen from Rosenort and they were united in marriage on October 31, 1948 in the Blumenort Mennonite Church in Reinland, Manitoba. They were married 61 years upon Dad’s passing.

Together they were blessed with 4 children. They resided and farmed in Rosetown (then Rosenort) until 1975 when they moved to Altona. In 1981 Mom & Dad became house parents at MCI in Gretna. They held that position for 4 years. Many fond memories were made with students and co-workers. In 2005, when they found it difficult to manage the large yard, they moved into Katharina Courts. They enjoyed their new home and Mom appreciated the name which is similar to hers.

On December 28, 2009, Dad passed away, leaving a huge void for Mom. Together with residents of Katharina Courts, friends, Home Care and family she was able to remain there till she entered Altona Hospital. While in the hospital she witnessed to others about her personal faith in Jesus Christ. Mom’s unconditional love for people was obvious. She serenaded many patients and staff with her harmonica playing and singing. She had a contagious laugh and smile.

Mom is survived by her children Ernie Janzen, Esther & Ernie Janzen, Marlene & Gordon Peters, Leonard & Pat Janzen and their families. Mom was predeceased by her parents and all her siblings.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Bueddefeld and the staff at Eastview Place.  Thanks for taking care of mom and pouring your love upon her. May God Bless each one of you.
