Tina Elias

On Wednesday, November 19th, after a short bout with pneumonia mom passed away peacefully at Boundary Trails Health Centre.

Mom was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on November 14, 1943. She and her family immigrated to Canada in 1954. She was predeceased by her parents Jacob E and Elizabeth (Martens) Hiebert, Step-Mother Anna (Kehler) Hiebert, and 2 brothers Johnny and Neil.

Mom is survived by her loving husband David; her son Garry (Isabella), and daughters Janet (Mike) Cody and Savannah, Sandra (Brad), Austin and Marlie. She also leaves to mourn her passing 4 sisters and 5 brothers.

Mom was baptized upon the confession of her faith in 1963 at the Rosenort Old Colony church in Rosetown by Bishop Jacob F. Penner. She was married on October 23, 1966 at the Chortitz Old Colony church to David Elias to whom she was married to for 48 years.

When we were younger she enjoyed sewing clothes for us and teaching us how to do Trichem. She spent many years as a health care aide at the Altona Hospital. Where she made many friends, and so enjoyed her time caring for patients.

We as a family feel truly blessed to have spent the last few days with her when we were able to share from our hearts everything we felt and all she had meant to us over the years. And to be with her in those last hours, and when she took her last breath is truly a memory we will cherish forever.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church in Altona, Manitoba.  Interment followed at the Blumenort Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to assist the family with expenses.
