Susie Hildebrand

Surrounded by her family’s love, Susie Hildebrand, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away at Boundary Trails Health Centre to join her husband Bill and their daughter Linda In their eternal home in heaven. 

Her gentle warmth and kind hearted spirit will be forever missed by her 10 remaining children; Midge, Judy (Don), Jerry, Gord (Val), Allen (Elaine), Elaine (Bob), Bill (Yvette), Randy (Tammy), Pam (John), and Sherry, her 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sisters & brother, in laws, nieces, nephews and friends. 

Susie was born and grew up on a farm in Halbstadt, MB and it was there she met and married Bill.  Their life journey took them to Paraguay in 1948 where they started their family before returning to Canada in 1952.  Susie & Bill finally settled in Morris, Manitoba where she spent her time caring for her home, her husband and her eleven children.  In addition to all the work at home, Susie worked alongside Bill for many years at Morris Collegiate.  Her life was not all work though; she was a talented quilter and spent many hours behind her sewing machine and around the quilting frame with her sisters and church friends.    Weekends and evenings were filled with family conversation and laughter that usually took place over a quiet puzzle or a spirited game of cards.   Susie also loved to travel and even in the lean years, she made sure that time and money were set aside each year to take a short family vacation.  After the kids were grown, she & Bill continued to travel with her sisters & brothers in law and many friends.  These trips provided Susie with many of the happiest times of her life. 

All who knew Susie quickly learned that she was a strong Christian.  Her faith and her church family saw Susie through many challenging times but she always trusted the path God had chosen for her and looked forward to the day she would see him face to face. 

Funeral services for Susie will be held on Friday, February 12th at 1:00 pm at the Altona EMMC, 158 – 2nd Street NE, Altona, MB.  A private interment will take place later in the day in the Morris Cemetery. Those who wish to spend a few minutes with Susie are encouraged to do so at the viewing between 1:00 – 9:00 pm on Thursday February 11th at Wiebe’s Funeral Home, 216 Centre Avenue East, Altona, MB. 

The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff at the Altona Hospital and Boundary Trails Health Centre for the diligent and loving care they provided.
