Peacefully on Monday, November 21, 2022 Susan Giesbrecht passed away at the Altona Memorial Health Centre.
Susan was born on July 25, 1945 in Winkler, Manitoba to her parents Abraham and Anna (Friesen) Peters. She enjoyed life on the family farm until moving to Winnipeg find work and be closer to her future husband Ben while he was taking his schooling.
Susan and Ben were married on May 28, 1965. They moved to BC following their marriage and would spend the next 50 years in Surrey. They enjoyed their time in BC where they raised their two sons, and Susan found work with Sears and later with Adesa Auto Auction. During their time in BC Susan’s love for God deepened and her relationship with Jesus grew. She loved Jesus intimately for many years and was often a part of church life.
After 50 years in BC the decision was made to return to Manitoba to be closer to Susan’s family. During the last 10 years in Altona they enjoyed living alongside family and adding many new dear friends. Susan loved living life with Ben and they were so good for each other. Thank you to all that were a part of Susan’s life, we know she loved you all deeply.
Susan is survived by her husband Ben Giesbrecht, their son Dion (Juanita) Giesbrecht, and grandchildren Bryce, and Alyssa Giesbrecht. She is also survived by her sisters Sarah Harder, Annie (Peter) Hildebrand, Helen (Hugo) Voth, Mary Klassen, Marge (Bernie) Bergen, Ruth (Peter) Friesen, and sister-in-law Ruth Peters. She was predeceased by her son Cory, and brothers Pete Peters, and Abe Peters.
We as a family are thankful for each and every one that has shown their support to us during this time. Your prayers, cards, texts, food, and other expressions of love have been and are so greatly appreciated.
A celebration of Susan's life will be held on Friday, November 25 at 11:00 a.m. at the Altona EMM Church with burial at the Altona Cemetery. Viewing will be at Wiebe Funeral Home Altona on Thursday, November 24 from 1:00 - 9:00 p.m. and at the church prior to the service.
