It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ron Klassen, brother, uncle, and friend who passed peacefully on March 12, 2026, at the age of 75 after many years of declining health.
Ron was born January 30, 1951, in Winnipeg, to loving parents John and Edith Klassen. He was born with a congenital heart defect which was not treatable at the time and he was considered terminal. He managed to survive and at the age of ten he had lifesaving open heart surgery which changed his life. He could now run and play like other children and build a life into adulthood. Ron was predeceased by Dad in 2009 and Mom in 2015. He was close to our parents and those were great losses for him.
He struggled in school and left early to join Mom and Dad in the family business. Despite the hard work of installing flooring, he enjoyed working with Dad and being part of the business. Ron was an active participant for many years raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society. It was a cause that was dear to his heart as he watched Dad struggle with the disease. With his outgoing personality Ron had no trouble asking anyone he happened to meet if they would like to donate. As a result, he was often the highest achiever raising the most funds. Truly something to be proud of.
Ron’s greatest joy was his dog Casey, a little Pomeranian mix. Casey provided Ron with love and companionship and a reason to get out and walk everyday. They had many years together and Ron missed him dearly when he was gone.
Ron is survived by his sister Karen Loeppky, niece Amber West, nephew Dustin Loeppky and their families.
We, the family take solace knowing that Ron’s suffering is over. He will be deeply missed. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff at Eastview Place for their kindness and care over the past few years.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 2PM at Wiebe’s Funeral Home in Altona.
