Keith Klippenstein

Keith (Michael) Klippenstein, aged 66, of Altona, Manitoba died August 30, at the Altona Community Memorial Health Centre after a long illness.

He was born on November 8, 1959 to Tina (ne Wall) and Hugo Klippenstein in Altona.

Keith was well known through his business, the Altona Greenhouse, which the community relied on for quality plant material. The greenhouse staff, especially Rowan and Gale Petrock, were family to Keith and they were bulwarks of support.

He expressed his creativity through photography and poetry and although he was sceptical of the benefits of technology he made an exception when it came to video games.

Keith is survived by his brothers Randy and Bernard and their partners Hendrika Haasen and Judy Baker. Keith leaves his nieces, Katherine Klippenstein (Matt Palmer, their son Jude) and Jenna Baker (daughters Autumn, Ocean and Isabel) and his nephews Gabriel and Kevin Klippenstein. His cousin John Wall and his aunt Rosalind Tryon (ne Klippenstein) were a welcomed presence in his life.

Keith’s life long friends, in particular Mark Villeneuve and Jack Krahn, also had a very special place in his heart and mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hugo, in 1982 and his mother Tina 2004.

The family expresses their sincere thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit for the excellent care they gave Keith in his last months.

The celebration of Keith’s life will take place on Thursday, September 10 from 2 to 4 pm at the Altona Senior Citizens’ Club, 39 First St NW, Altona. Memorials or donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Altona Medical Centre or to Furever Friends Cat Rescue, Altona.
