With very heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Jennifer Patricia Klassen (née Hargrove), who passed away on May 17, 2026.
Jennifer was the beloved wife of Clint Klassen and a devoted and loving mother to her son, Seth Eilijah – her greatest joy and the center of her world. She is remembered by her mother, Deborah Hargrove, her sisters Sarah Bridgette (Sean) and Megan Gillies (Rob), and her brother Andrew Hargrove (Jennifer). She was a proud and cherished auntie to Kara and Chloe Gillies, Ellison (Ellie) Hargrove, and Caelen and Reilly Bridgette. She was predeceased by her father, Herbert Hargrove, whose memory she carried close to her heart throughout her life.
Jennifer’s life was one of deep faith, quiet strength, creativity, and unwavering service to others. She had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, cared for, and at peace in her presence. Whether through her work, her music, or the way she welcomed others into her home, Jennifer lived with a spirit of generosity that left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.
A gifted pianist, Jennifer shared her love of music generously through her involvement in local churches. Music was woven into the fabric of her life demonstrating expression of her faith, her joy, and her connection to others. For over a decade, she dedicated herself to teaching music to young children, nurturing not only their skill but their confidence and love for creation. She had a gentle, patient presence that made her an exceptional teacher and mentor.
Jennifer’s creative spirit extended beautifully into her photography. Through her photography she captured some of life’s most meaningful moments including weddings, graduations, and especially the earliest days of infants and children, which held a special place in her heart. She had a unique gift for seeing beauty every day and preserving it in a way that allowed families to treasure those moments for a lifetime.
Professionally, Jennifer served as a social worker, where she found deep meaning in walking alongside individuals and families during some of life’s most difficult moments. Her work in palliative care was particularly important to her as she approached it with empathy, dignity, and compassion, always putting others before herself. Her ability to sit with people in both sorrow and grace was a testament to her strength, her faith, and her calling to serve.
Jennifer discovered deep peace in the simple, sacred rhythms of life. Her acreage was one of her greatest joys, not a farm, but a place of connection, beauty, and grounding. She loved the sunrises and sunsets, the feel of the soil under her feet, and the quiet wonder of watching things grow. Her appreciation for nature, food, and creation was rooted in her love of God and her gratitude for the world around her.
Jennifer was also endlessly creative in the ways she expressed care for others. She was always crafting, decorating, and creating something thoughtful, be it a handmade item, a carefully curated gift basket, or a beautifully arranged space. She gave her time, her energy, and her creativity freely, often thinking first of how she could bring joy to someone else. With Christmas being her favorite holiday, she embraced the season with her whole heart through music, hymns, decorations, and traditions that made her home feel warm, peaceful, and inviting.
Above all, Jennifer will be remembered for her deep faith, her gentle and generous spirit, her creativity, and her unwavering love for her family. She lived a life rooted in giving, in kindness, and in quiet acts of service that spoke louder than words ever could.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Rhineland Pioneer Centre, with a presentation commencing at 2:15 PM. While a small number of tributes will be shared by selected individuals, all are invited to honor Jennifer by sharing their memories and messages through memory cards provided at each table. Those wishing to share photos of Jennifer for the memorial video, which will be presented during the celebration, are invited to submit them to jklassencelebration2026@gmail.com.
The family extends a special thank you to the close family and friends who surrounded Jennifer with love and support in her final hours, as well as to the emergency services in Altona, the STARS air ambulance team, and the staff of the Health Sciences Centre ICU in Winnipeg for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jennifer’s memory to palliative care services in Altona or at the Boundary Trails Health Centre.
Jennifer’s life, though far too short, was profoundly beautiful. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness that will continue to live on in all who had the privilege of knowing her.
