FERNANDE DAMPHOUSSE (née Fillion)

February 4, 1936 – March 14, 2026

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved mother, memère and great-grandmother who left us peacefully on March 14, 2026 at the age of 90. Fernande was predeceased by her husband Paul on November 13, 2009.

She will lovingly be remembered by her five children, their spouses, 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren: Gisèle (late Gilles Gratton), Jocelyne (Howard Laxson), Paulette (Gilbert Patenaude), Marie-Paule (Marcel Delorme) and Guy (Ginette Clément). She is also survived by her sister Florence Collette; sisters- and brother-in law, Gilberte Fillion, France Vermette, Céline Dansereau & Father Georges Damphousse. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and great friends.

Fernande was born in Frenchville, Saskatchewan, on February 4, 1936, the 8th of 10 children to Louis-Paul Fillion and Marie-Anne (Dupuis). She married Paul on April 23, 1960.

She will be remembered for the special relationship she had with each of her grandchildren, her baking, her big gardens providing an abundance of vegetables to share with the family and friends. She was a devout Roman Catholic and a member of the Women’s Catholic League.

The family would like to thank the medical and support staff at Eastview Place Altona and the Altona Memorial Health Centre for their kindness and good care of Mom. We would also like to thank everyone who took the time to visit Mom!

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 17th from 1:00-7:00 pm at Wiebe Funeral Home. Cremation will have taken place prior to the funeral. Thursday, March 19th, prayers, PowerPoint and eulogy will begin at 1:00 pm followed by the funeral mass at 2:00 pm at the St. Joseph Catholic church in St. Joseph. Private interment will follow at a later date.
