Obituary of Dora Klassen
(as written by Dora)
Dora (Wiebe) Klassen was born on September 2, 1922 in the Melba School District, north of Horndean.
My parents, Wilhelm and Maria (Zacharias) Wiebe, moved to Bergfeld later and lived there with their widowed mother a few years. Next they moved to the Rudnerweide School District where they lived for 17 years. This was where I grew up and went to school. I enjoyed going to school most of the time. I also enjoyed doing chores at home, loved flowers and gardening, cleaning up the yard, and herding cows.
I was the second oldest in our family. I thank God for giving me Christian parents, teaching me right from wrong. It was in my teenage years that the Rudnerweide Mennonite Mission Church was formed. My parents also joined this church. Because we had no church building, Bergfeld was the first church that was built. Before that we gathered in schools and haylofts. We were very excited as there was a new feeling in the air. For our parents and young people an awakening.
In those years I committed my life to the Lord and accepted Him as my personal Saviour and was baptized in the Bergfeld Church on June 1, 1941, with a number of other young people, by Bishop Wilhelm H Falk. I was born again.
It didn’t take long till I met my boyfriend, Jake Klassen, and was married in 1945. God blessed us with 3 children and 9 grandchildren and 19 great grand children and 9 great great grandchildren.
Dora was ushered into heaven’s glory on Thursday, July 31, 9:30 am. Thank you to the many care givers she had over the past 11 years at Eastview Place.
Dora was predeceased by her husband Jake in April 2005; one great great grandchild, Gabriel; parents Wilhelm and Maria Wiebe; 3 brothers and 1 sister.
She is survived by 4 sisters and their spouses; son Ray and wife Dolores of Altona, grandchildren, Darryl (Leora), Connie (Daryl) and Patricia and 2 great grandsons Evan (Abigail) and Tyler; daughter Elma and husband Alvin Dueck of Rosenort, 3 grandchildren Jason (Natalie), Trevor (Cora), Joel and 12 great grandchildren Dara (Emmanuel), Dayvia (Armando), Kai, Zephan (Gracelyn), Ransom, Ezri, Paxton, Ronan, Sierra, Jonah, Ayla, Brynn and 9 great great grandchildren; son Tim and wife Elaine of Altona, grandchildren Natasha (Jeremy), Michael (Tammy), Nicole (Matt) and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday August 7, at 2:00 pm. at the Altona EMMC, with burial at the Eigenhof Cemetery. Viewing will be on Wednesday August 6, 2025 at Wiebe Funeral Home Altona from 1:00 - 7:00 pm. and at the church prior to the service.
