It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, grandmother, sister and aunt, Donna Mae Scott (nee Lamont). Donna Mae grew up in Dominion City Manitoba and was the only girl in the family. She had to be tough from the get go with brothers like Brian (Laurie), Bruce (Lori) and Greg who treated her like one of the boys. She always told the story about how she was forced to play goalie and how her barbie dolls fell victim to her brother’s shenanigans.
Donna Mae met and married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Jim Scott in 1974. They married young and enjoyed the small town life they had both grown up with in Dominion City. Donna Mae enjoyed every sense of community in Dominion City. She loved curling, golfing, baseball and other activities that involved being part of a community team. She was at every event her children participated in whether it be at hockey games, baseball or every other activity. She worked on a number of committees over the years including the Sturgeon Foundation, DC park and pool board as well as with the United Church board in town. Donna Mae worked as the manager of the CIBC bank in Dominion City until it closed and then she moved to the branch in Altona until her retirement.
She was predeceased by her husband Jim, her parents Lorne and Lorna and parents in law Betty and Irving Scott. The loss of Jim was a hard one which she struggled with over the remainder of her life.
Donna Mae will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Tara (Harvey), son, Chris (Lisa) and her grandchildren, Kristina, Adanna, Jayden, Greg, Hailey and Lauryn. She will also be missed dearly by her nephews Kevin (Kristy and boys), Noah, cousin Shaun (Ken) and their children Brendon, Keenan and Kiera. She will also be missed by her sister in law Rhonda Guidolin (Wayne and family) and Perry Scott and children.
A special thank you to Shaun and Kiera for their kind care and love for Donna Mae in the last few years of her life that were the most challenging for her.
Donations in Donna Mae’s memory can be made to the Sturgeon Foundation or Dominion City Park and Pool.
A Celebration of life is planned for October 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dominion City Golf Club. A private family internment will be held prior to the service.
