Daniel Wayne Reimer, 66, of Altona passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 14th 2022 at his home. He is survived by his beloved wife Gaetane, his sisters Phyllis and Dorothy, his brothers Bill and Abe (Enid), son Daniel (Melissa), daughter Amber (Adam), sons Tyler (Verna), and Joel, and his four grandchildren Arizona, Asher, Addison, and Chloe. He is predeceased by his parents Abe and Mary Reimer, and his two brother-in-laws Ed Dueck and Ed Funk.
Dan was born August 5th, 1956 in Altona, Manitoba where he worked on his family’s dairy farm until completing high school. He enjoyed working with animals and raised many different types of pets. He eventually moved to Morden where he began his family and had two children, Daniel and Amber.
Dan loved to work doing maintenance and making ice at the Modern Recreation Centre, providing for his family. Dan eventually moved to Altona where he met the love of his life, Gaetane and her children Tyler and Joel, in 2002.
They were married February 10th, 2007 and raised their 4 children together. Dan was a wonderful stepdad. They spent much time with their children playing sports, frisbee, travelling, and making fun meals.
Dan was always full of joy and laughs, and there was never a dull moment in their lives.
Dan and Gaetane enjoyed travelling, visiting the ocean, and singing lots of karaoke.
They enjoyed being involved in church and helping wherever was needed.
He loved living life with his precious Gaetane and they were very good for each other. He never left her side and always made sure she was well taken care of. His joy was to make sure that she felt very loved and appreciated.
Dan had an evangelistic personality where he enjoyed telling people about Jesus. He was quick to tell them what Jesus had done for him. He had a passion to serve others with Gaetane and loved giving. He was known to give the clothes off his back if someone needed. Dan was always known to tell jokes and make everyone around him laugh and smile. He knew how to bring out the joy and best in people. He taught his children about God and strong work ethics.
Dan enjoyed working as a barn manager and technician, working with hogs and taking care of animals. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing hockey, gardening, and going fishing with friends. He and Gaetane started a refinishing furniture business and sold many items to many places all over Manitoba. Some of their pieces can be seen in restaurants and tea rooms.
Even in his later years as Dan struggled with various health complications, he always did his best to work hard, clean the house and cook (especially smoking ribs). He enjoyed entertaining family and friends with good food and lots of laughs.
His beloved Gaetane became his source of strength and comfort as he fought various rare conditions. He never gave up on God and fought a hard good fight of faith even in the most difficult circumstances.
As much as we love him and miss him as a great husband, father, and grandfather, we are eternally grateful to know Dan is finally not suffering anymore and is in the arms of Jesus.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Stefan Pacin - Neurologist, and Dr. Bashar Al-Abbasi, and all the wonderful nurses and staff at the Altona Memorial Hospital.
