It is with a mixture of both sadness and joy that we share the passing of Clara Kehler (nee Loeppky) on May 28th , 2025. Sadness as she has left a hole in our hearts and joy in that she is no longer suffering. Clara is survived by her husband Alvin, two children, Denise (Tim) Fast and Garth Kehler, her special grandchildren Ryan (Jen), Lindsay, and Matthew (Lexie), and her very special greatgrandchildren Tessa, Jack, Evie and Dane. She is also survived by her siblings Elva Loeppky and Roland (Phyllis) Loeppky.
Clara Jean Loeppky was born on April 3rd , 1935. She was raised in Halbstadt, MB where she developed lifelong friends, strong family ties and enjoyed everyday life on the farm. Clara married the love of her life Alvin Kehler on May 25th , 1958. They settled in Altona, where they lived for their 67 years of marriage. Clara worked at the Credit Union for many years and was known for her skill and speed with the adding machine. During retirement, Clara and Alvin enjoyed many years of car rides, road trips and socializing with their friends and family members. Clara also took on an interest in genealogy and helped compile two books of her family history from both the Loeppky and Klassen sides of the family. Clara’s most beloved treasures were her husband, two children, grandchildren, and most recently, her great grandchildren. Clara was always ready and willing to serve them in any way that she could, and between vereniki suppers, turkey dinners, BBQs, and every variety of homemade pies, she kept her family very well fed. Clara loved to organize a meal complete with fancy dishes and napkins themed to each occasion, and she always went above and beyond in order to make it special. Clara enjoyed gardening and crafts and was well known for her knitting and crocheting. She was blessed to be able to knit right up until her final days.
Clara will be remembered for her quiet strength, kind and giving nature, and her deep faith in God. Clara was baptized into the Bergthaler Church and remained a devoted follower of Jesus to the end. Clara was a powerful prayer warrior who prayed daily for each of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as any others in need of prayer. Her commitment to prayer and the well-being of others extended to her final moments.
It is with much gratitude that we thank Clara’s healthcare providers, Dr. Hawk, and Dr. Welk, her Palliative care nursing staff and her homecare staff, in addition to the Gardens on Tenth staff and Eastview Place for the loving care she has received. A special thank you to Melvin and Margaret, Elva, Grace, and to all the many friends and family that have supported her along the way. Also, another special thanks to Wiebe Funeral Home for their kind and courteous service.
A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held on Sunday, June 1st at 2:00 PM at the Altona Bergthaler Church, with a private burial prior. Viewing will be held on Saturday, May 31st from 1:00-8:00pm at Wiebe Funeral Home in Altona.
