Annie Martens

Our beloved Mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Annie Martens, was born of her late parents, John and Sarah Fehr – nee Gerbrandt, on April 22, 1937, in Altona, Manitoba. Her childhood was spent on a farm 10 miles west of Gretna.

She was baptized upon her confession of faith in 1954. She exchanged vows with her precious Peter, on July 15, 1956, at the Altona Bergthaler Church. They shared almost 63 years of life’s joys and sorrows together. They were blessed with 1 son and 3 daughters.

They started their married lives together in a small house in Neuhorst, and later moved to her childhood farm. They enjoyed farm life there until they retired into a house in Altona.

After Dad’s passing, Mom moved to the Gardens Apartments and later she moved into Eastview Place.

Mom loved gardening, sewing, watching her grandchildren’s sporting events and various activities, and rejoiced in all their successes. Later, as she became less mobile, she loved colouring pictures of the flowers she had loved to plant.

Her greatest joy came in loving and serving her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and she did that well.

She is survived by her children as follows: Allen and wife, Barb, of Altona, Brenda and husband, Frank, of Altona, Cindy and husband, Jason, of Altona, and Vicki and husband, Brad of Rosenfeld, as well as 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

A celebration of Annie's life will be held on Saturday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the South Park MB Church, Altona. A private interment will take place prior to the service. Viewing will be at Wiebe Funeral Home Altona on Friday, May 22 from 1:00 to 6:30 p.m.
